Let's Talk: A DIY Face Mask for Valentine's Day (c/o Anya Law)

For the last six months, I have done pure raw honey face masks at least twice a week. Sometimes every day, sometimes I leave them on overnight (obviously, after they've dried completely). Honey has amazing, amazing health benefits. From the inside, it promotes sleep, is a natural source of energy, heals wounds and is packed full of antioxidants. On the outside, the antibacterial qualities make honey an amazing treatment for acne. It also can reduce signs of aging due to the antioxidants, and help to create an overall healthy and even glow.

I've noticed a huge change in my skin after starting to use honey as a face mask. And I can definitely tell when I haven't been doing it enough. Anya Law had a guest blogger (Instagram: @yashoras) on her blog From Nature With Love last week, who posted the recipe for a great honey face mask that I think is a much better way to spend Valentine's Day than braving the crowds at restaurants and movie theaters. For the recipe, you'll need the following:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 tbsp. of ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp. of honey (she recommends manuka honey, but as long as it isn't coming from one of those bear-shaped bottles all honey is good.

Directions:

  • Mix ingredients in a bowl until smooth
  • Apply to the face with a foundation brush (for even application)
  • Leave mask on for 10-20 minutes; wash with warm water

She suggests storing in a Tupperware container because the recipe will last you three to four uses. This is an amazing recipe, and a great way to pamper yourself on Valentine's Day if you don't have a significant other--or you just want to treat yourself like me!
