Gel Cleansers Are Best for Oily Skin
Why they're better
Gel cleansers work harder to get rid of all that surface oil from being out in the dirty world. They help to banish the icky, acne-causing bacteria. Gel cleansers work better at deep cleaning, preventing clogged pores (cannot wait to talk about those little buggers with you) and leaves skin cleaner without stripping any of that natural oil your skin produces to protect itself. We want to keep that stuff.
Why non-gel aren't the best
Non-gel cleansers are good--they're lightweight and gentle, great for sensitive skin or people wth normal-combo skin who don't suffer from those face demons we call "acne." However, for those of us who do have problems with the red giants popping up on our face, non-gel cleansers like cleansing milks and creams won't really do a good enough job of getting all the bad oil and grime off our faces.
The good ones
Now for my favorite gel cleansers!
- Cosrx Low Ph Good Morning Gel Cleanser -- what a name! Super long, but super good at cleaning your skin without taking away those good oils we love so much. The Cosrx cleanser has some really good ingredients--tea tree oil!--and manage to also maintain a low Ph level, which is works to help keep our skin at it's natural Ph level. I'll talk more about Ph levels and skin and things in a later post, so more on that later.
- Mario Badescu Enzyme Gel Cleanser -- this guy has amazing fruit enzymes and extracts that work to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and can be used everyday! Day for sloughing off dead skin cells!
- Cerave Hydrating Gel Cleanser -- Cerave is amazing and drugstore so it's super cheap. This cleanser is so, so gentle but contains hyaluronic acid which helps to lock in and provide mega-moisture to hydrate you skin.
I read this amazing article about the differences of face washes and why the differences are important. Come find me on Wednesday for more!
