An Introduction to Moi
Let's get one thing clear: I know my skin isn't perfect. I've struggle with horrible-to-moderate acne for the past six year, but in the last six months I've become very mindful and determined to make the best of the skin I have. That includes trying to remedy my breakouts, improve the areas I'm unhappy with, and accepting that breakouts and skin ailments are natural for most and are unavoidable.
I wanted to start this blog because I'm passionate about skincare and skin health. One the last six months, I've become very knowledgable about products an ingredients, treatments and different things that can do different things. I've learned what works, what doesn't, the products that will love skin the best and the ones that are better to steer clear of.
My name's Logan Elliott, and I'm a writer. Most of my hopes and dreams for my writing career lie in fiction, but I know that doesn't always pay the bills. I'm majoring in Writing at Savannah College of Art and Design (Atlanta) and minoring in Fashion Journalism, because maybe that will lead to a job that will pay the bills to help support my dream of being a novelist.
It's also important to note that these are my opinions and experiences. Just because research or I say that something isn't the best doesn't mean you have to stop using it immediately. What works for you works for you, and that's what matters. I hope this site will serve as a personal log and a place to share the information and the passion that I have.
I have combo-to-oily skin. It gets really oily during the summer, and mostly normal in the winter. I've had acne pretty much constantly for the past six years, of varying degrees of intensity. I always tried to take care of it, but it's only been recently that I've started to take it really seriously and began doing research and really testing out what works for me and my skin.
For years, I had really bad rosacea on my cheeks, starting at my cheekbone down to my jaw. Rosacea is a pigmentation condition that causes the skin to become very red. Over the years, it's faded quite a bit and now is only present right on my cheekbones. I also suffer from acne "scars", which are pink-to-purple marks left behind by the infection of acne. These, along with breakouts, are what I mostly aim to cure by balancing and maintaining my overall skin health.
Though my skin isn't perfect or even good, it looks the best it has in since I was 14, and I consider that a success. For me, it's only going to get better as I really start to see what's making the biggest different in controlling my breakouts, and ultimately taking proper care of skin. It's not all about the acne, though that is what drove me to start taking a more active roll in how I treat my skin, it's mainly about caring for my skin and doing what cause the most good for it.
I really hope this blog will help to document my journey, my pits and peaks of my skincare adventure. And maybe it will even educate and help other in their own paths as well. My ears are always open for comments or suggestions, just go to the contact page.
